The Wayne J. Shilkret Living Tribute Fund was established in 2001 as a living tribute to a man who spent his entire professional life bringing the best in performing arts to the audiences of Southern California . Wayne Shilkret presented artists ranging in stature from those whose careers as professional musicians were just beginning to the world's greatest stars including Luciano Pavarotti, Herbert von Karjian and the Berlin Philharmonic, Artur Rubenstein, Isaac Stern, and so many more. Starting his career with famed impresario Sol Hurok, he went on to work with Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, the Pasadena Symphony, Hollywood Bowl, and the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.
The Shilkret Fund is a non-profit fund associated with the
Friends of Arts Education at the Cerritos Center for the Performing
Arts that supports musical education projects that make the performing
arts accessible to all audiences and promote appreciation through
interaction and fun. It is sustained by generous donations and an
annual benefit concert in the beautiful Cerritos Center.
